Miss Jo “Boobs” Weldon, Founder of the New York School of Burlesque and author of The Burlesque Handbook further piqued my interest when she posted an article in September. I felt compelled to engage with the material as this is an ethical issue so relevant in the age of social media.
On Friday afternoon last week I had the great privilege of having an exclusive audience with THEE Miss Polly Rae, the vision (in all senses of the word) behind risqué burlesque-inspired musical review, The Hurly Burly Show. When I caught wind that this West End hit was winging its way to Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on the 27th of October 2012, I felt compelled to instigate some promotion thereof. What a great opportunity this event is for the South African burlesque community to weave its tendrils on a larger tapestry, and Miss Polly is so gracious to assist!
